The manufacturer of frozen potato products and dehydrated potato flakes, Lamb Weston / Meijer, publishes sustainability report highlighting the significant progress with its sustainability program between 2012 and 2014, at all stages of the supply chain from the field to the fork.
The main results show that the company is saving a direct water consumption by 7% per year (equivalent to about 285 million liters), reducing annual direct energy consumption by 21% and improving the utilization of potato on a 4.3% per year - especially in comparison with 2008, the last benchmark. Based on these results, the company says it is on track to achieve its sustainability goals in 2020.
The focus of sustainability of the company focuses on six specific areas, closely related to the main activities of the company, roshen ukraine including: Water, Energy & Emissions, Potato & Waste, Employee Safety & Food Quality and Nutrition & Health .
The company claims to have made significant progress towards achieving its sustainability goals in 2020. For example, with reference to 2008, the report notes that, at present, the company saves water annually the equivalent of 114 pools Olympic; has reduced its annual direct energy consumption by the equivalent to the consumption of 11,000 households; and now uses 51,600 tonnes of potatoes to produce the same volume of finished product, which greatly increases its use of the potato.
